In this article we touch on how to connect an Oracle Cloud tenancy to OpsCompass, and what OpsCompass intelligence offers
First Time Setup
This article will explain the Oracle Cloud tenancy connection process for those connecting Oracle Cloud to OpsCompass for the first time.
Connecting a Cloud Account
From the Add Account Screen - you can add several different cloud account integrations. To connect Oracle Cloud, click the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure card.
Connecting Oracle Cloud
To start the connection process, you will need to have the following
- Access to login to the Oracle Cloud portal
- Access to deploy Oracle Cloud Stacks
- Access to create Oracle Cloud Identity Policies, and Cross-Tenancy Admit Policies
Once access has been verified, download the terraform configuration file present on the account connection screen. This template will allow OpsCompass the permissions required for monitoring the compartments.
After downloading the zip file and reviewing the contents, follow the link provided within OpsCompass to the Oracle Cloud ResourceManager - Create Stack page. On this page, the steps are:
- Selecting .Zip file as the Terraform configuration source
- Uploading the provided zip file into the Oracle Cloud Portal
- Clicking Next
On the Configuration Variables page - you will need to provide your organizations Tenancy OCID, under the customer_tenancy_ocid field. The other two variables that are required, opscompass_tenancy_ocid and scanning_group_id should already be populated. Click Next, once all the input fields are verified.
Finally review the information about the Stack and ensure it complies with your organizations naming and description policies, these can be changed with no effect to the OpsCompass integration. Once you are ready to deploy, click the Run apply checkbox and Create.
You will then be redirected to the Job page for the stack, once the stack is deployed you will see State: Succeeded, like below.
For further verification, navigate back to your Stacks and verify that OpsCompassIntegration has a State of Active.
Once complete, navigate back into OpsCompass and provide your Tenancy OCID again, the same as the variable customer_tenancy_ocid provided earlier. Then continue by clicking Connect.
Once loading completes, a list of found compartments will be presented, once verified you can finish the process by clicking Connect
After the final loading screen, you will be navigated back to the OpsCompass dashboard, this concludes the Oracle Cloud connection process!
